Brandy Marine manages Marina at Dominican Republic Luxury Resort

Brandy Marine International, L.L.C. of Sarasota, FL, has joined an internationally recognized line-up of partners/developers whose brands are synonymous with luxury – Ritz-Carlton, Trump, Troon Golf, Nicklaus Design, PGA Champions Tour and Alta Bella Hotels – at the luxury Cap Cana resort on the spectacular eastern coast of the Dominican Republic.

Brandy Marine in 2008 signed on to manage Marina Cap Cana, a full-service luxury yacht/mega-yacht facility at the multi-million-dollar residential/resort/golf/marina Cap Cana resort. The resort will be under construction over the next 15 years on a 30,000-acre site. Planned are 8,500 residences, four luxury hotels, five signature golf courses and a 1,250-slip marina, the largest marina within a 250-mile radius in the Caribbean Sea. Build out of the residences is projected by 2010.

Brandy Marine assumed management of the first phase of 89 slips in the fall of 2008 in time for the peak tourist, yachting and big-game sport-fishing season, December through May. Brandy Marine hired Capt. Andrew G. New, former assistant marina manager at Marina Jack of Sarasota, FL, as General Marina Manager for Marina Cap Cana.

Marina Cap Cana is an integral part of Brandy Marine’s aggressive expansion into foreign markets and into the management of high-end international resort marinas that cater to luxury yacht owners. Brandy Marine is working on management, consulting and/or design with marinas in the Dominican Republic, Costa Rica, the Turks & Caicos Islands, Panama and in the Bahamas, among other international locations.

Brandy Marine is a 32-year-old marina management, design and consulting firm and is the oldest third party marina management company in the U.S.

“Managing Marina Cap Cana is an outstanding opportunity for Brandy Marine,” said Capt. Bruce H. Blomgren, Brandy Marine’s CEO and President. “When completed, the marina will be comparable to the great international destination marinas of the world, including those in Italy, Spain, France, Monaco and Dubai.”

Overlooking the stunning aquamarine waters of the Caribbean Sea, Cap Cana resort is viewed as the most significant player in the Dominican Republic’s effort to attract tourism and boost the nation’s economy. The Dominican Republic is situated on the island of Hispaniola. Cap Cana is located 750 nautical miles southeast of Florida.
